Ellen's Creative Cakes

Cake was absolutely delicious!

Our cakes were absolutely beautiful and delicious. We had a very complex order including one large cake with lots of different cakes and fillings, as well as several smaller cakes, all different fillings, and some were vegan. I was worried that some might get mixed up, but they were all perfect and delicious. I take off a bit for professionalism because she is extremely intense in the meetings as she explains her extremely complex system for matching cakes with fillings.. I think she would do better business if she would be willing to simplify this a little. However, if this system results in her being able to handle a complex order like ours, then it is worth it. She is also quite an accomplished cake decorator, though this is not her main focus. She was able to create a cake for me based on a photograph, and my cake turned out to be even more beautiful than the one it was based on. She does not work with fondant, but believe her when she says she can make butter-creme look as smooth as fondant (and it will taste better). I would definitely recommend her services, especially if you need a specialty cake like gluten-free or vegan (the vegan cakes are AMAZING!). But remember to keep an open mind when meeting her; she is quite a character!

Not only did she show up 11 hours late to drop off the cake, but she never contacted anyone to let them know where she was or gave any explanations for her tardiness. The cake barely made it to the wedding and it looked like crap. She spent a very long time at our meetings bragging (loudly) about how she was the best in town in terms of flavor and design, but she didn't deliver. We also ordered pies rather than a groom's cake - they were burnt. The samples we tried were very tasty and I was very disappointed that I didn't receive what I was promised. We got almost a full refund from the very hefty price tag, to say the least.

Her design and cake was pretty amazing. However, we were at a venue that required the cake to be cut by someone other than the caterers. We asked her to cut our cake for us at the event. We paid her $50 for the priviledge and prepared an additional place setting for the meal. She didn't show up until well into the event to deliver the cake. Then when it was time to cut the cake she was no where to be found. When she did show up after someone else took on the tak. She offered to cut the rest into to-go boxes for the next day. She did minimal cutting into gigantic rushed pieces all messily placed into the boxes. In retrospect I would have appreciated knowing she had conflicts so we could schedule someone else. The cake however was beautiful.

Not a single slice of my groom's cake was left over... Besides the hunk boxes of course. Wonderful, beautiful, absolutely creative. I definitely recommend the chocolate cake with peanut butter filling. YUM!

Ellen was simply amazing! Her cake was wonderful and absolutely delicious. Everyone kept asking us who made our cake at the reception. She really brought our vision to life. It was perfect! As for Ellen and her staff, they are very upbeat and energetic about what they do. They are always ready to assist you. I will definitely do business with them again. Excellent!!

They made the cake exactly how I wanted! I sent them a pic via e-mail and my cake was made the same way! The flavors were wonderful too. People actually complimented me on my cake. I don't know about you, but I've tasted many bland cakes. Not the case here! Good luck everyone. You won't going with Ellen's.

Ellen is just what she claimes: Creative. She put my vision into reality! Not only was the cake exactly what i had dreamed but it was so delicious! She has more flavors and combinations than any other wedding cake vendor I had ever seen. We had one layer of carrot cake and another of almond pound cake. You could have as many flavors in one cake as you wish! She also gave us a great sample bag where we got to taste all her cakes and frostings in our own home.. not just a few premade slices. Ellen was a little hard to talk to as she is very eccentric.. but her cakes show her passion!

Everyone loved the cake. They all said it was the best cake they had ever had. She did a great job and I will be using her over and over again for all of our cake needs.

My experience with Ellen was wonderful. She gave us samples of several different cakes, frostings, and fillings, and let us create our own. We ended up with a three-layer cake that had three different cake types (and three different fillings) - other places would have made us pay extra for this, but it was part of Ellen's basic package. I also was very broad with what I wanted - just something to match my cake topper - and Ellen did a wonderful job. Her final product looked better than I had expected it to look, and was probably the best-tasting cake I've ever had that didn't come out of my mother's kitchen. Prices were higher than you'd get with a run-of-the-mill storebought cake, but for a wedding, it was worth it!
